Fostering Strategic Collaborations with India’s Pharma Leaders | Kazakhstan Pharmaceutical Forum

This week, Natalia Baeva, Director of the Global Pharmaceutical Leaders' Club, attended the CPHI & PMEC India exhibitions, one of the most important annual gatherings for the global pharmaceutical and advanced manufacturing industries. CPHI & PMEC India together attract more than 50000 visitors and over 2000 exhibitors from 120+ countries, bringing together API manufacturers, formulation producers, CRDMOs, equipment suppliers, technology innovators, and regulatory experts. The event serves as the central meeting point for India's pharmaceutical ecosystem and its international partners.

Participation in CPHI India 2024 proved invaluable, offering a unique opportunity to connect directly with one of the fastest-growing and most strategically significant pharmaceutical industries in the world. India’s transformation from the "pharmacy of the world"into a global innovation powerhouse is accelerating rapidly. With more than 2050 WHO-GMP-certified facilities, 752 US FDA-approved sites (the largest number outside the U.S.), 286 EDQM-approved plants, and unmatched leadership in generics and vaccines, India continues to strengthen its position as a global pharmaceutical leader.

Today, India supplies 20% of global generic medicines, 40% of U.S. generics, 60% of global vaccine demand, and 70% of WHO’s essential vaccines, supported by an ecosystem that spans advanced R&D, high-throughput manufacturing, and global distribution. With exports expected to surpass US$30 billion this year and the sector projected to grow to US$450 billion by 2047, Indian pharma is entering a new phase of global expansion.

For the Global Pharmaceutical Leaders' Club, it is a strategic priority to develop partnerships with Indian companies producing high-quality medicines, ingredients, and technologies. Our goal is to help these companies explore opportunities across Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Eastern Europe, where demand for affordable, high-quality treatments and innovative solutions continues to grow.

CPHI & PMEC India provided an ideal platform to connect with leading manufacturers, innovators, and exporters, and to reinforce our role in linking India's thriving pharmaceutical sector with high-growth markets across the CIS region. This engagement will support new collaborations, regulatory pathways, and market expansion strategies in 2025–2026 and beyond.
